13IMPROTANT PRINCIPLES OF USE ABOUT SHACKLES

Shackles are used every day in a variety of rigging and load securement applications. Before you use a shackle, there are nine important rules to keep in mind.

Rule 1:

Production operations should first check whether there are defects in all shackles, model match, the

connection is solid and reliable.

Rule 2:

Do not use screws or metal rods instead of the pin.

Rule 3:

The lifting process does not allow a greater impact and collision, should move uniform.

Rule 4:

In a lifting pin hole should be flexible rotation, Not allowed to have jamming phenomenon.

Rule 5:

Shackles in the body can not withstand the lateral bending

moment that should be in the body of the

plane carrying capacity.

Rule 6:

When the plane carrying capacity exists within the body at different angles, shackle the maximum

working load too.

Rule 7:

The maximum angle between the legs carrying shackle rigging shall not be greater than 120 degrees

between the of the adjustment.

Rule 8:

Shackle to properly support the load, that is where the role to be along the centerline axis of the shackle, avoid bending, unstable loads, but can not overload (see below).

Rule 9:

Avoid shackle eccentric load

Rule 10:

Shackle in supporting the use of rigging and rope rigging as a bundle, the horizontal part of the shackle pin and grommet should be connected to the rope rigging, to avoid lifting when rigging, wire rope and cable friction buckle, causing cross pin rotation resulting from the cross pin and buckle body

Rule 11:

According to the frequency of use, poor working conditions should determine a reasonable degree of periodic inspection, regular inspection period not less than six months and not longer than one year, and make inspection records.

Rule 12:

The use in high temperature environments, should be considered to reduce the load, As follows:

TEMPERATURE Due to the amount of temperature rise of new load after load reduction
-40℃~200℃ original load ratings100%
200℃~300℃ original load ratings 90%
300℃~400℃ original load ratings 75%
over 400℃ NO allow

Rule 13:

Always ensure shackle pins are properly engaged. Screw pin shackles need to have threads fully engaged on the shackle ear. (The pin should be flush with the outside of the shackle body or slightly past). The pin head should make contact with the shackle body. Bolt nut and cotter shackles need to have the bolt and nut properly secured with the cotter pin attached.
