Anguang Institute’s spaceborne instruments help ensure the air quality of the 4th CIIE

From November 5th to 10th, the 4th China International Import Expo was held in Shanghai. In order to ensure the air quality during the Expo, the Satellite Environment Application Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment uses remote sensing data from multiple satellites to issue daily remote sensing monitoring reports on Shanghai and its surrounding atmospheric environment.

Among them, the on-orbit instrument of Anguang’s hyperspectral observation satellite has accurately obtained the spatial and temporal distribution information of atmospheric pollution, which has provided scientific basis and technical support for the decision-making of air quality assurance at the Expo, and played an important role.

The hyperspectral observation satellite was successfully launched at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center on September 7 this year and is still in the in-orbit test stage.

The Atmospheric Trace Gas Differential Absorption Spectrometer (EMI) and Aerosol Multi-Angle Polarization Detector (DPC) developed by Anguang Institute for the satellite are the only optical instruments in my country that can be used to detect the distribution of atmospheric trace components, atmospheric aerosols and clouds. and satellite payloads for the detection of microphysical parameters, respectively, through 0.5 nm ultraviolet hyperspectral detection means and multi-angle polarization detection technology, to realize the monitoring of nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone and other polluting gases and atmospheric fine particle pollution monitoring, covering the world in a single day, It provides effective data for global climate change research and high-precision atmospheric radiation correction for earth observation, and serves my country’s national strategies such as “air pollution prevention and control”.

During the CIIE, the EMI payload team completed the remote sensing data analysis in a timely and accurate manner. From October 25 to November October, the pollution data distribution results of the day were provided before 14:30 every day, and the production efficiency and data quality of data products were obtained by users. The recognition has played an important decision-making support role for air pollution early warning and the formulation of emission reduction measures. After the guarantee work, the Satellite Environment Application Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment expressed its gratitude to the EMI team.

The DPC ground information processing research team carried out data quality inspection and verification on the multi-band, multi-angle, polarized radiation normalized radiance data products produced by DPC in orbit at the China Resources Satellite Application Center, and passed the high-precision polarization data products on the same platform. The scanner (POSP) achieved on-orbit cross-calibration transfer of DPC; at the same time, it cooperated with the Institute of Remote Sensing to invert satellite remote sensing optical depth (AOD) monitoring data in Shanghai and surrounding areas, and obtained real-time emission and transportation of particulate pollution in Shanghai and surrounding areas. The situation provides a fast and effective data guarantee for the scientific decision-making of air quality at the Expo.
