According to the “News in Progress” report of Voice of China, China Central Radio and Television, from December 5 to 6, the 16th China Southern Power Grid International Technology Forum was held in Guangzhou. More than 10 academicians, many experts, scholars, and industry representatives at home and abroad conducted discussions and exchanges on the theme of “Gathering innovative forces and building a first-class enterprise”. The reporter was informed that the power grid investment in the Pearl River Delta region will exceed 170 billion yuan to accelerate the planning and construction of smart grids in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
This forum is an important platform for China Southern Power Grid to further implement the national innovation-driven development strategy, actively participate in the construction of an international science and technology innovation center in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and further promote power cooperation, innovation and exchanges.
Over the past 70 years, continuous innovation in power grid technology has enabled my country to build the world’s largest UHV AC/DC hybrid power grid, and my country’s overall power grid technology and equipment and safe operation level have also ranked among the world’s forefront.
Experts at the conference believed that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area should build a first-class bay area and a world-class city cluster that is full of vitality and international competitiveness, which brings huge opportunities for the development of energy and power, and also puts forward new requirements for high-quality development.
The reporter learned at the conference that from 2018 to 2022, China Southern Power Grid will invest more than 170 billion yuan in power grids in the Pearl River Delta to speed up the planning and construction of smart grids in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. At the same time, it will also invest more than 20 billion yuan in The Greater Bay Area power grid technology research and development, in 10 key research directions including the safe and stable operation of the large power grid, has determined the list of key core technology research and technology projects to provide more reliable power protection for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Li Lihui, Chairman of the Expert Committee of China Southern Power Grid and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said: “The development goal of digital power grid proposed by China Southern Power Grid is to integrate information technology with the development of power grid technology, and to integrate information technology with the laws of our power grid itself. A system that is visible, knowable, and controllable in various places will subvert our previous power system, including operation management, engineering construction, and planning.”
